SARS-CoV2 Recombinant Proteins
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is caused by a novel coronavirus identified as severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). COVID-19 (SARS-CoV2) is turning out to be the worst pandemic in the recent history. According to the Johns Hopkins University COVID19 tracker, worldwide, there are 25.5 million confirmed cases of COVID-19 with more than 850,000 deaths. The United States alone has more than 183,000 deaths with over 6 million confirmed cases of infection as of September 1, 2020.
Structurally, SARS-CoV-2 has four main structural proteins including spike (S) glycoprotein, small envelope (E) glycoprotein, membrane (M) glycoprotein, and nucleocapsid (N) protein, and also several accessory proteins such as main Protease (Mpro) and Papain-like protease (PL-protease).
